CIMC Raffles has delivered a 7,000-car pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) to Norwegian Car Carriers (NOCC) well in advance of the contractual handover date.

The vessel, NOCC Adriatic, was handed over on 20 January and departed from the shipbuilder’s Longkou construction base the same day. CIMC Raffles said delivery was completed 70 days earlier than originally scheduled.

NOCC Adriatic is the second 7,000-car PCTC ordered by NOCC from the Chinese yard. The vessel has an overall length of 199.90 metres, a beam of 38 metres, a design draught of 8.6 metres, and a design speed of 19 knots.

The ship is fitted with two C-type LNG storage tanks and is equipped with dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines. This configuration allows the vessel to operate on LNG and enables zero-emission operations while alongside in port.

CIMC Raffles attributed the accelerated delivery to closer integration between design and production teams, optimised construction workflows, and tighter coordination across its supply chain. The yard said these measures allowed it to manage key milestones more effectively throughout the build.

"The early delivery of the NOCC Adriatic surpassed our expectations, highlighting CIMC Raffles' exceptional organisational skills and dedication to honouring commitments," said the shipowner's representative during the handover ceremony.

The representative also stated that, "The vessel's build quality meets or even exceeds our technical specifications, and we are optimistic about its performance in service. This collaboration has strengthened our mutual trust and fostered a win-win strategic partnership."

CIMC Raffles said it intends to continue improving construction processes and expanding its international footprint, positioning itself to support the shipping sector’s transition towards lower-carbon operations.
