Steel cutting has been carried out on a 298,000-dwt LNG dual-fuel crude oil tanker, marking the start of construction of the sixth vessel in a series for owner Andes Tankers II Inc.

The steel cutting took place on 15 January 2026 at the shipyard’s facilities in Jiangsu province, China. Representatives from the shipyard, the Andes site team and DNV attended the ceremony.

The vessel, assigned builder’s hull number 0330006, will be equipped with LNG dual-fuel propulsion, allowing operation on either liquefied natural gas or conventional marine fuels.

The tanker forms part of a wider programme of LNG dual-fuel very large crude carriers (VLCCs) being constructed for Andes.

DNV will provide classification services for the vessel during construction. No delivery date was disclosed in the announcement.
