Two subsidiaries of Compagnie Fluviale de Transport (CFT) have combined their activities to form AGORA Transport Fluvial, with the merger taking effect on 1 January 2026, according to parent group Sogestran.
The transaction brings together Société de Transport Fluvial (SFT) and AGORA, uniting river transport and chartering operations across the North-Benelux, Seine, and Rhône–Saône regions under a single company.
Sogestran said the move is intended to consolidate technical know-how and operational resources under one structure, enabling closer coordination between vessel operations and chartering activities.
The group also stated that the integration will support the gradual alignment of internal systems, including information technology, management processes and communication tools.
As part of the transition, the newly formed entity plans to implement France’s E-Invoicing Reform in September 2026, the company said.
Sogestran added that there will be no changes to existing office locations or telephone contacts. Staff email addresses will, however, migrate to a new format using the @agora-tf.eu domain from 1 May 2026.
The group said the merger supports its long-term strategy for chartering and inland navigation activities and aligns with its stated values of trust, agility, pride and commitment.
CFT operates river shipping services throughout France, while AGORA has focused on chartering activities within inland waterway transport.
Sogestran’s wider operations span river barging, maritime transport, logistics and industrial services across European waterways. In 2025, the firm reported a 78% reduction in CO2 emissions from its fuel supply vessel Anatife after switching to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) for operations serving two French islands, Belle-Île-en-Mer and Île d'Yeu.
