Steel cutting for an 8,400-teu LNG dual-fuel container vessel has taken place at its location in Jiangsu Province.

The vessel is being built for Echelon Container Carriers c/o Capital Ship Management to dual-fuel specifications, allowing it to operate on conventional marine fuels and liquefied natural gas (LNG), a propulsion option increasingly adopted in the container sector as operators seek to meet tightening environmental requirements.

The steel cutting took place on 23 December for the vessel, which carries builder’s hull number 0208111. Representatives from the shipyard, the Capital Ship Management site team and Lloyd’s Register attended the event.

The 8,400-teu capacity places the vessel in the mid-sized container ship category, suitable for regional and feeder services on major trade routes.
