Singapore-based marine fuel supplier Golden Island has obtained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) EU Trader with Storage status, the company said on 30 December.

The certification allows Golden Island to trade and store sustainable marine fuels, including B100 biodiesel and green methanol, and to support this with verified sustainability documentation.

According to the company, the certification enables it to maintain full chain of custody for certified fuels and to support counterparties in meeting requirements under the EU Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III).

ISCC EU is a recognised certification scheme that verifies compliance with European Union sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions-saving criteria for renewable fuels used in transport.

Golden Island said the certification reflects the work of its operations and compliance teams in meeting international sustainability and regulatory standards.

The company added that the approval supports its aim to contribute to maritime decarbonisation by expanding access to certified lower-carbon fuel options for shipping operators.

As previously reported, Golden Island was one of three companies recently authorised by the MPA to provide methanol bunkering services in Singapore, from 1 January 2026.

The supplier's four methanol-ready IMO Type II tankers — Golden Antares, Golden Sirius, Golden Centaurus and Golden Carina — are expected to be available for methanol bunkering operations in the first quarter of 2026.
