The Global Ethanol Association announced on 26 December that Jinan Shengquan Group Share-Holding Co., Ltd. has joined the organisation as a founding member.
Jinan Shengquan Group operates in bio-based materials and renewable solutions, with activities spanning ethanol production, biomass utilisation and sustainable industrial development. The company is headquartered in Jinan, China.
According to the association, Jinan Shengquan Group’s focus on low-carbon technologies and circular economy practices aligns with its mission to promote ethanol as a solution supporting energy security, climate action and sustainable growth.
The Global Ethanol Association said it aims to work with Jinan Shengquan Group to strengthen international collaboration, accelerate innovation and support the continued development of the global ethanol industry.
The association represents ethanol producers and other stakeholders across the value chain, with founding members typically playing a role in shaping its strategic direction and priorities.
Ethanol is increasingly being considered as a potential marine fuel as the shipping industry seeks alternatives to conventional fossil fuels to meet decarbonisation targets. The fuel can be used in modified engines and is viewed by some as a transitional solution in the maritime sector's energy transition.
