Island Oil has appointed Christian Larsen as senior trader as part of a broader move to establish a trading base in Denmark, the marine fuel company has announced.
The appointment follows the launch of Island Oil’s Danish operations, which the company described as a strategic step to selectively expand its footprint in key marine fuel markets.
Island Oil Chief Operating Officer Vangelis Marinakis said the decision to build a presence in Denmark reflects the company’s longer-term growth plans and added that Larsen’s experience and market knowledge make him well placed to support that strategy.
Larsen brings sector experience that Island Oil said will strengthen its trading capabilities and complement its existing international activities as the company develops its northern European reach.
Larsen previously served as trader at Monjasa and Oilmar DMCC over an eight-year period, and in his previous role was Oilmar's Country Manager in Denmark.
"I'm truly excited to have joined Island Oil, and I am looking forward to contributing to a dynamic organisation and helping drive safe, efficient, and reliable fuel solutions across the industry," Larsen said.
"I'm eager to grow together with this great team, learning, building, and working towards shared success as we take on new challenges and opportunities," he added.
Headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, Island Oil operates physical supply stations in Cyprus, Romania, and Israel. In addition to Denmark, the firm has trading desks in Dubai, Hong Kong, London, Piraeus, Seoul, and Singapore.
