Golden Island has completed two deliveries of B100 biofuel to Maersk containerships in Singapore, according to the company.

The Singapore-based bunker supplier used its IMO type II chemical tanker Golden Sirius to deliver 900 metric tonnes (mt) of 100% Used Cooking Oil Methyl Ester (UCOME) biofuel to the containership Estelle Maersk in October, followed by 2,900 mt to Maersk Amazon in November.

UCOME, which is a biodiesel produced from used cooking oil, is classified as an advanced biofuel under various sustainability frameworks. B100 refers to fuel that is 100% biodiesel, containing no petroleum diesel blend.

The news follows the recent announcement by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore's (MPA) in November that Golden Island was one of three companies authorised to provide methanol bunkering services in the city-state following a call for applications launched in March 2025. The licences will be valid for five years, from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2030.

Following the MPA's statement, Golden Island mentioned towards the end of last month that its four methanol-ready IMO Type II tankers — Golden Antares, Golden Sirius, Golden Centaurus and Golden Carina — would be available for methanol bunkering operations in the first quarter of 2026.

As regards the rest of the Golden Island fleet, the MPA includes the Double Happiness, Golden Aranda, Golden Bristol and Golden Pioneer as licensed bunker tankers in Singapore. They are all managed by Golden Island Marine Services.

On its website, Golden Island lists the full-load capacities of Double Happiness, Golden Antares, Golden Aranda, Golden Pioneer and Golden Sirius as 4,700 mt, 6,000 mt, 1,600 mt, 3,050 mt and 6,000 mt, respectively.
