The International Maritime Organization's Future Fuels and Technology Project will host a technical seminar on marine biofuels on February 12, 2026, at IMO headquarters in London.

The one-day event aims to enhance understanding of biofuels as a low-greenhouse gas marine fuel and facilitate sharing of recent operational experiences, according to the organization.

Speaker nominations from IMO member states and observer organizations remain open until December 14, 2025. Interested parties should contact futurefuels@imo.org to submit nominations.

The seminar will be conducted in hybrid format, available both in-person and online, with proceedings in English only. General participants must register for attendance by February 5, 2026.

The event will cover three main sessions examining the current state of biofuel use in shipping, production and certification processes, and market dynamics.

The seminar follows the project's technical seminar on onboard carbon capture and storage systems held in September 2025.

The venue is located at 4 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7SR. Registration and further information are available through the IMO events page.
