Fratelli Cosulich Marine Energy held a keel laying ceremony for its methanol-ready bunker vessel, Lucia Cosulich, at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard in China on October 9.
The ceremony marks the beginning of the vessel's assembly phase, following the steel cutting in July.
The Lucia Cosulich is a 7,999 deadweight tonne (DWT) IMO Type 2 chemical bunker tanker that will be equipped with a methanol transfer system, nitrogen generator system, and phenolic epoxy-coated tanks — designed to provide chemical resistance and operational flexibility.
The activities of Fratelli Cosulich Marine Energy cover bunker trading, shipowning, and ship management services, whilst also acting as a physical supplier in Singapore.
Lucia Cosulich is the second of four sister vessels. It represents the company's investment in vessels designed to handle both conventional and alternative marine fuels.
