French shipping company CMA CGM has added the LNG-powered container vessel CMA CGM Syracuse to its fleet under the French flag.
The vessel was named under the godmotherhood of Eun-Young Heo, former chief executive of the Chungbuk Credit Guarantee Foundation.
Captain Regis Apperry will command the Syracuse, which will operate on the Pearl River Express (PEARL) service connecting Asia and the US West Coast.
CMA CGM operates one of the world's largest container shipping fleets and has been investing in alternative fuel technologies, including LNG propulsion systems across its vessel portfolio.
Earlier this week, the company also signed a letter of intent for six dual-fuel LNG containerships to be built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in India.
