French shipping line CMA CGM has officially named its dual-fuel methanol vessel CMA CGM Helium in a ceremony held in South Korea.

The vessel was named under the command of Captain Lucian Paraschiv, with Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria, Chief Operating Officer, Maritime at DNV, serving as Godmother for the ceremony.

The vessel has been deployed on the Phoenician Express (BEX2) service, which connects China, Korea, Singapore, Egypt, Lebanon, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia.

The naming ceremony represents another addition to CMA CGM's alternative fuel fleet as part of its decarbonisation efforts.

Last month, the firm took delivery of CMA CGM Mercury, the fifth vessel in its 13,000 TEU dual-fuel methanol series.
