VPS has launched VeriSphere, a digital platform that the company claims will provide unified access to marine fuel testing and emissions management solutions through a single interface.

The Rotterdam-based marine fuel testing and inspection services provider announced on October 8 that the platform connects various digital solutions from VPS and its partners, including software, hardware, data, and artificial intelligence tools.

According to VPS, VeriSphere currently offers solutions for fuel procurement decision-making through its PortStats platform, engine and emission equipment performance monitoring via Maress, fuel consumption optimisation with Emsys, emissions reporting compliance, and decarbonisation pathway planning through CORE.

The platform uses what VPS describes as modular design with persistent identity management, allowing users to navigate between applications without managing multiple accounts.

"Digital tools should empower the user, not complicate their work," said Jan Wilhelmsson, chief operating officer for digital and decarbonisation at VPS. "Too many times we hear our customers say that they are tired of all the different user interfaces they have to master in order to do their daily work."

John Oosthoek, vice president of operations, described the launch as "more of an ecosystem initiative than a product launch," noting that the platform's modular design facilitates scaling through partnerships and acquisitions.

VPS claims the platform will enable easier integration of new product partnerships and features aimed at providing transparency across the marine fuels and emissions value chain.

The company said it is developing additional modules including a holistic key performance indicator dashboard, artificial intelligence advisor, and self-service webshop, with releases planned for the coming months.

VeriSphere is currently live for all VPS PortStats platform users and will be rolled out to other VPS customers in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to the company.

Dr. Malcolm Cooper, VPS chief executive, said the platform demonstrates the company's commitment to contributing to shipping sector decarbonisation and improving transparency in the marine fuels industry.

VPS operates through five laboratories supported by commercial and technical advisory teams, providing testing and inspection services to the maritime industry.
