Quadrise expects Borup's expertise and relationships in the maritime industry to help the commercialisation of its technology. Pictured: Quadrise's production process: 1) Oil residues are taken from the refinery or heavy oil production and cooled to under 200ºC to achieve the required viscosity. 2) Water, which can be derived from several utility or waste-water sources, is added to the residue. 3) Special additives are included in the water phase to stabilise the emulsion for long-term storage and transport, and to promote complete combustion. 4) The mixture is processed in a proprietary emulsion module to produce a highly-stable oil-in-water emulsion with enhanced fuel properties. 5) A biofuel component such as renewable glycerine can be added to produce bioMSAR as an alternative to MSAR for further carbon dioxide savings. bioMSAR and MSAR can be made interchangeably and are compatible with each other. Quadrise has appointed Peter Borup as chief executive officer, effective October 1, as the marine fuel technology company seeks to commercialise its low-emission fuel solutions.

Borup brings over 30 years of experience in the shipping industry, having started his career at A.P. Moller-Maersk where he rose to deputy director level. He subsequently held senior positions at D/S Norden as senior vice president and managing director in Asia, before serving as president and CEO at Lauritzen Bulkers and NORVIC Shipping International.

Throughout his career, Borup has worked across global shipping hubs including Copenhagen, Seoul, Beijing, Singapore, and Dubai, focusing on strategy, investment, and shipping operations.

Beyond operational roles, Borup has been involved in maritime technology and innovation, serving on investment committees at Rainmaking, Motion Ventures, and The Shipping Collective.

His educational background includes an MBA from IMD Business School, completion of Wharton Business School's Advanced Management Program, Copenhagen Business School's Advanced Board Program, and he was a Fulbright Scholar at Georgetown University studying Asia Studies.

Andy Morrison, chair of Quadrise, commented: "We are delighted to have appointed Peter to become CEO of Quadrise. His extensive expertise and relationships in the shipping industry will undoubtedly help us at this pivotal time for the company as we move our technology towards commercialisation."

The appointment comes as Quadrise, which trades on AIM under the ticker QED, focuses on developing decarbonisation solutions for shipping and heavy industry through deployment of low-emission fuels and biofuels.

Borup said: "I am excited to be joining the Quadrise team. The company's technology is becoming increasingly important as the shipping industry looks to decarbonise and move towards a greener and more sustainable future."

He added that Quadrise's transition technologies "can deliver meaningful reductions in emissions" while also providing "substantial cost savings."

The new CEO said he looks forward to working with the team to drive strategy forward and identify opportunities to grow the business, with the aim of "unlocking value for shareholders and partners."
