Koch Minerals & Trading (KM&T), a subsidiary of Koch Industries, has posted an internship position for bunker procurement in Singapore, offering hands-on experience in marine fuel trading and operations.

The internship programme is designed to provide experience working with what the company describes as a "diverse, global team" that includes freight traders and operations professionals with maritime backgrounds, including former ship captains.

According to the firm, interns will work under the mentorship of the Senior Bunker Procurement Coordinator to develop skills in bunker fuel management, market analysis, contract negotiation, and post-bunkering operations.

The role encompasses learning about different grades of bunkers including fuel oil, gasoil, and LNG, along with their pricing mechanisms and port-specific bunkering requirements. Interns will also analyse paper markets and their impacts on physical bunker markets.

Responsibilities include negotiating and executing bunker orders, reviewing contract terms and conditions, and managing post-bunkering activities such as invoicing settlement. The position also involves resolving claims and disputes, and taking ownership of bunker planning portfolios in collaboration with freight traders and vessel operators.

The company seeks candidates with strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity about the maritime fuel and trading industry, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. Previous exposure to maritime operations, fuel markets, or commodity trading is listed as advantageous but not required.

KM&T describes itself as specialising in the procurement, exchange, and delivery of commodity products and services. The company operates under Koch Industries' business philosophy, which the posting claims emphasises entrepreneurship and challenging the status quo.
