Bunker sales in
Singapore during the month of September fell from the previous month's all-time high to the fourth-best monthly figure in its history, according to data released by the
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
Total sales at the world's leading bunker port fell last month by 440,100 tonnes, or 10.3 percent, to 3,847,700 tonnes, down from 4,287,800 tonnes in August. The figure is the fourth-highest ever recorded and is only surpassed by August 2015 (4,287,800 tonnes), May 2012 (3,985,700 tonnes) and June 2011 (3,859,200 tonnes).
The 440,100-tonne month-on-month decrease is also the most significant since February 2013, when a drop of 711,200 tonnes was recorded.
In comparison with previous years, last month's figure is the highest ever recorded for the month of September - beating the 3,521,500 tonnes sold in September 2014, the 3,610,500-tonne figure for September 2013, the 3,326,400 tonnes recorded in September 2012 and the 3,568,400 tonnes sold in September 2011.
Compared to last year, volumes were up by 326,200 tonnes, or 9.3 percent. It is also the eighth year-on-year rise of 2015, with only April recording a year-on-year decline.
Accumulated bunker sales for the year so far are 33,483,500 tonnes, which represents an increase of 1,786,200 tonnes, or 5.6 percent, compared to the first nine months of 2014 (31,697,300 tonnes).
In fact, the figure is the highest ever recorded for the first nine months - also above the volumes sold during the corresponding period in 2013 (31,726,100 tonnes), 2012 (32,275,600 tonnes), 2011 (32,188,100 tonnes) and 2010 (30,513,300 tonnes).
Sales of 380 centistoke (cSt) - Singapore's best-selling bunker grade - fell from the previous month's highest ever figure of 3,295,600 tonnes to 2,908,700 tonnes - a decline of 386,900 tonnes, or 11.7 percent.
In comparison with previous years, it is the highest September figure ever recorded. 380 cSt sales were up by 259,900 tonnes, or 9.8 percent compared to 2014. It is the seventh year-on-year increase so far this year.
500 cSt volumes dipped 38,000 tonnes, or 4.9 percent to 736,800 tonnes, down from the previous month's historic record of 774,800 tonnes. Last month's result is the fourth-highest in the port's history. It is 59,200 tonnes, or 8.7 percent higher than in September 2014.
Below are tables of bunker sales in Singapore for each fuel grade in 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2011 with accumulated totals in the bottom row.
