Intertek showcases bunker fuel services

21 May 2012 09:46 GMT

Company has expanded its capabilities in Panama to serve the growing bunker fuel and laboratory testing markets.

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, will present ShipCare marine industry testing and inspection services at the Maritime Week Americas Conference in Panama City, Republic of Panama.

Intertek ShipCare marine services support the world's maritime shipping industry with global bunker fuel quality testing, bunker quantity survey reports, oil condition monitoring, cargo testing & inspection, tank calibration, marine environmental services, management systems certification and more.

Intertek's Panama laboratory and facilities are part of a global coordination network for ShipCare Marine Services in the Americas and globally. Ship owners, fleet managers and other clients are offered a complete suite of marine solutions tailored for the maritime industry.

From bunker fuel and oil-condition-monitoring sampling, testing and inspection, to fuel advisory, environmental consultation and more, ShipCare's services are available at all major maritime ports worldwide, including Panama, Singapore, China, Europe, the Middle East, and the USA, among many other locations.

Intertek's bunker fuel quality program provides customers real-time updates and reporting through the Priority Advantage Desk tool, a valued-added service helping customers achieve greater efficiency in communications.

Victor Pouchet, General Manager for the Caribbean and Central America, said, "Intertek bunker fuel experts with significant industry expertise will be attending Maritime Week Americas. Our staff are ready to show how Intertek helps ship owners and operators reduce risk, achieve growth, and enjoy commercial success in today's competitive and demanding maritime industry."

Alexis Ayala, Intertek Country Manager for Panama and Central America, said, "Panama is an important transit and business center for the maritime industry. The expansion of the Panama Canal, to be completed in 2014, further raises Panama's status as a strategic location for bunker fueling operations, cargo treatment expertise, and other ship related services.

To support this historic expansion, Intertek has added capabilities in Panama to serve the growing bunker fuel, laboratory testing, and cargo additive treatment markets. As part of the Intertek ShipCare network, the Panama team easily arranges coordination of sampling, testing, monitoring and other global programs. Specifically, the Intertek ShipCare program helps our clients avoid costly delays, repairs, and losses which can hurt marine operational activities."
