MAN Energy Solutions has won a contract to supply the propulsion system for seven 109-metre-long factory trawlers ordered by Russian Fishery Company (RFC).

The propulsion system - which is to feature a MAN 14V32/44CR main engine, a MAN Alpha VBS 1260 propeller, plus a MAN 9L21/31 and MAN 7L21/31 GenSets - will be using IFO 380 bunker fuel for both main propulsion and auxiliary power generation.

The system will also include advanced common rail technology to achieve fuel efficiency with the main engine's power of 8,120 kW.

"This doesn't compromise the extremely low fuel oil consumption and maintains an outstanding green footprint," MAN explained.

Tersan shipyard has been contracted to build the first vessel in Yalova, Turkey, whilst the other six identical vessels are to be constructed in Russia.

MAN's system delivery for the first vessel is slated for June 2019, whilst the ship's scheduled delivery date is July 2020.

RFC is one of Russia's largest producers of wild whitefish and holds the country's largest quota for pollock. The company's large fishing vessels are built for operation in all types of fishing areas and climates.
