Latest bunker volume data for the port of Singapore shows that marine fuel sales for the second quarter (Q2) of 2018 were an increase on the year before, but not the highest in the port's history.

Between April and June, the world's leading bunker port sold 12.44 million tonnes, representing a year-on-year improvement of 168,900 tonnes, or 1.4 percent, compared to the 12.27m tonnes sold in Q2 2017.

However, the best Q2 figures were seen in 2016 when bunker sales jumped 1.65m tonnes, or 15.1 percent, to 12.56m tonnes. Prior to that, the port's best Q2 result had been in 2012, with 11.37m tonnes.

In terms of the best ever three-month period for Singapore, this was between November 2017 and January 2018, when sales of 13.22m tonnes were achieved. It is one of only three periods to record sales of more than 13m tonnes - the other two being July-September 2017 and December 2017-February 2018.

Over the last four months (March to June), rolling three-month sales have remained below 13m tonnes, whilst the latest April-June result is the lowest in 11 months - since May-July 2017, when 12.41m tonnes were sold.
