Glander International Bunkering (GIB), a trader of marine fuels and lubricants, has promoted Andreas Maierhofer to the role of managing director at its Geneva office.

Maierhofer, who moves to Switzerland after serving as managing director at GIB's office in Oslo, Norway, has been tasked with "spearheading growth and expanding the company's presence in the Geneva market".

Commenting on the promotion, Carsten Ladekjaer, GIB CEO, remarked: "I am very pleased that we have been able to find the most suited candidate to lead our team in Geneva within our own ranks. This goes to support the fact that we have an extremely strong and sound organization where talent can grow and where career progression is natural for our valued employees."

"Backed by 12 years of shipping and bunker trading experience, Maierhofer's professional accomplishments and diverse industry expertise will add significant value to the Geneva operations," GIB said.

Before joining GIB in 2016, Maierhofer served as trading manager at Peninsula Petroleum AS in Oslo since 2012. Before that, he was Projects Broker at Fearnleys, Commercial/Tender Manager at Master Marine AS and Commercial Manager at V.Ships.

"I firmly believe that Andreas with his vast experience, his business acumen and not least his natural talent as a leader will be a perfect match for his new role. I wish Andreas and his new team all the best, and I am confident that they will be successful in meeting and exceeding the high demands and expectations from our trusted business partners in a professional and value adding manner," Ladekjaer said.

"This is an exciting time for both myself, and for Geneva's bunker trading market," Maierhofer commented. "With this new role, I will be starting the new financial year with our talented team in Geneva and a new challenge. I look forward to contributing to our network's ambitious and exciting development plans for the European region," he added.

As Bunker Index previously reported in November, Maierhofer's previous position as managing director of GIB's Oslo office has been filled by experienced bunker and shipping industry professional Ole Morten Rismyhr.
