Petrobras unveils double-hull bunker barge fleet in Santos

Supplier says new fleet will 'definitely' speed up operations and reduce waiting times.

Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) said on Monday that it has a new fleet of double-hull barges operating in the port of Santos.

The fleet comprises seven intermediate fuel oil (IFO) delivery vessels and one marine gas oil (MGO) barge.

The IFO barges range in storage capacity from 1,700 metric tonnes to 5,600 tonnes, each with a pumping rate of 400 cubic metres per hour.

The MGO barge, Marfort 20, is able to store up to 700 metric tonnes of distillate product and has an hourly pumping rate of 300 cubic metres.

"These new barges have arrived to improve the delivering bunker services in the port of Santos and they will definitively speed up our operations, increase the delivery services as well as reduce the waiting time," Petrobras said in an email.

Capacity and pumping rate details for each of the vessels have been provided below.

Maximum IFO capacity (in metric tonnes): 2,500
Pumping rate (cubic metres per hour): 400

SC 10
Maximum IFO capacity (in metric tonnes): 2,770
Pumping rate (cubic metres per hour): 400

Amalthia
Maximum IFO capacity (in metric tonnes): 5,600
Pumping rate (cubic metres per hour): 400

Marfort 20
Maximum MGO capacity (in metric tonnes): 700
Pumping rate (cubic metres per hour): 300
