Gabadi and Hankuk Carbon ink LNG bunkering accord

07 Nov 2017 15:38 GMT

Companies target LNG bunkering contracts in locations such as the U.S, China and Europe.

Spain's Gabadi S.L. has signed an agreement with South Korean firm Hankuk Carbon to cooperate in the LNG bunkering market, covering both the small-scale and medium-scale supply of LNG.

Hankuk Carbon is involved in the development of composite materials and thermic insulation for the LNG industry, whilst Gabadi is specialized in the naval outfitting and gas carrier sectors.

By joining forces, Gabadi says the two firms will be able to secure new LNG bunkering contracts in various geographical locations, such as the U.S., China and Europe.

"With this agreement, a new solution is offered, due to the combination of the LNG insulation manufacturing technology from Hankuk Carbon, with the membrane tanks installation technology from Gabadi," remarked Antonio Llago, CEO of the Galicia-based firm.

"Without a doubt, we will occupy a dominant position, owing to this cooperation," Llago added.

Gabadi recently became the first non-shipyard to be granted a licence by Gaztransport and Technigaz (GTT) for the construction and repair of its gas carrier membrane tanks. The company is also executing the repair of a gas carrier at Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.
