Peninsula Petroleum to launch bunker supply operation in LA/Long Beach

19 Oct 2017 14:43 GMT

New service, which will comprise a storage facility and dedicated barge fleet, is due to start in January 2018.

Peninsula Petroleum has announced that it is launching a new physical operation in Los Angeles/Long Beach.

The new service, which will comprise a storage facility as well as a dedicated barge fleet, is set to become fully active by January 2018 following a gradual implementation process during the fourth quarter of 2017.

The supply operation will be managed by a team based in Houston, with the company's 20 global offices providing worldwide sales and marketing support.

Commenting on the news, CEO John Bassadone, said: "Entry into Los Angeles/Long Beach is yet another step towards executing our strategic plan for expansion of our physical supply network. We are confident that the operation will be a success and that it should be seen in a wider context: Peninsula Petroleum provides global solutions to both our clients and supply partners."

Peninsula noted that a key reason for selecting Los Angeles/Long Beach as the company's next expansion area is its importance as an operations hub for a large number of its core global clients.

"This new supply position means Peninsula can better add value to its clients when and where needed," Peninsula said.

With the new physical supply operation in Los Angeles/Long Beach, Peninsula will also be strengthening its offering on the Pacific Coast - adding to its long-established operation in Panama.

"Peninsula will build on its existing relationships with West Coast refineries, seeking mutual benefit," the bunker firm explained.

The expansion into Los Angeles/Long Beach means that when the new service is launched, Peninsula will be supplying in seven of the world's top 10 bunkering markets. It is also Peninsula's sixth global storage position and the third in the U.S. - adding to its existing capacity in Houston and New Orleans.

In addition to Los Angeles/Long Beach, Peninsula's physical supply locations include: ARA ports, Barcelona, Gibraltar Strait, Houston, Malaga, New Orleans, Panama and Singapore.
