Dan-Bunkering interns set to relocate to other group offices in 2018

04 Oct 2017 09:28 GMT

Six-month internship programme is due to be completed in Q1.

Dan-Bunkering says it plans to be able to offer its Dubai interns a permanent job position once its previously announced internship programme is completed around the beginning of March 2018.

At the start of September, Dan-Bunkering took on four candidates in the United Arab Emirates, with Greek nationals Dimitrios Papantoniou and Konstantinos Tzermias starting as bunker purchasing interns, whilst Janek Ekeli (from Norway) and Martin Tolderlund Olling (from Denmark) are learning the ropes as bunker trading interns.

The actual training is taking place in Dubai; however, the plan is that the interns will also be able to continue their employment in a permanent position in the group's other offices worldwide after six months, which is the duration of the internship.

During the programme, the four interns will work closely together with the trading team and a dedicated mentor, enabling them to gain hands-on experience from the start.

"The objective of the internship program is for Dan-Bunkering to focus on providing thorough and intensive training via theory and practical-based learning to a small, skilled group of talents, preparing them to enter into the day-to-day trading relatively fast considering their seniority," Dan-Bunkering said.

As Bunker Index previously reported, Dan-Bunkering is also one of a number of companies with trainees on the Danish Shipping Academy's (DSA) Commercial Shipping Programme. The list also includes bunker company Monjasa, plus Clipper, DFDS Seaways, Evergas, J. Lauritzen, Maersk Supply Service, Norden, Nordic Tankers, Torm, Ultrabulk and Ultragas.
