Aegean Marine Petroleum Inc. has launched a representative office in Taipei, Taiwan.

The company has deployed bunker trader Vivi Chen as the main contact person for the operation.

Commenting on the news, president Johnny Mcilroy said the new office had been established "with a view to boost relationships and direct business with Taiwanese customers for our global network".

Aegean also confirmed on Friday that it has commenced ex-wharf sales on a free-on-board (FOB) basis from its Fujairah terminal to other bunker suppliers. The new activity commenced in July.

As Bunker Index previously reported, Aegean also launched a trading office in Dubai last month.

"The group has a long history in Fujairah and Khor Fakkan as a physical supplier and adding a back-to-back trading team is the next step in expanding our market presence with clients in the region," Mcilroy said at the time as trading manager before his appointment as president.
