Cockett celebrates 38th anniversary

25 Jul 2017 05:37 GMT

Business was incorporated under the name Crownform Ltd on July 23, 1979.

Cockett Group celebrated the 38th anniversary of the formation of Cockett Marine Oil Ltd on Sunday.

On July 23, 1979, the company was first incorporated under the name Crownform Ltd, with Roy C. Keen and Nigel L. Blood as directors. The firm's registered office was in Temple Avenue, London.

Crownform's name was later changed to Cockett Marine Oil Ltd the following year, on April 11, 1980, with Neill Cockett as chairman.

Another business, Marine Oil Consultants (London) Ltd, which was originally founded by Neill Cockett, actually dates further back than Cockett Marine Oil. It was incorporated almost 9 years earlier, on August 25, 1971.

The company's name was changed in 1983 to Cockett Marine Oil Hellas Ltd; it was then amended to Cockett Marine Oil Trading Ltd in 2003 and Cockett Marine Oil Supplies Ltd in 2009.

The business has been operating under its current name, V Marine Fuels Ltd, since 2013.

Headquartered in Dubai, Cockett Group is now one of the world's leading providers of marine fuel and claims to trade in excess of 7 million metric tons per annum. It is jointly owned by Vitol Group (50%) and Grindrod Limited (50%).
