Glander International Bunkering recently launched its first internship program, offering youth an opportunity to gain experience and build a long-term career in the shipping industry.
The internship recruitment campaign began towards the end of 2013 and led to what the company describes as "a high response rate". From the campaign, three interns were chosen to be part of a six-month programme which includes training at the Glander International Bunkering Training Academy in Dubai.
"The Glander International Bunkering Training Academy syllabus was created by the most experienced leaders and traders. The program serves as a platform and learning guide and runs in conjunction with 'real time' on the job experience," the company said in a statement.
The three successful candidates that were offered a permanent position at Glander International Bunkering as a result of the program were
Anders Petersen,
Ditlev Sloth Pless and
Martin Leoe.
Anders Petersen is now working at the company's office in India, whilst Ditlev Sloth Pless is in Singapore and Martin Leoe is at Glander International Bunkering's head office in Dubai.
"Glander International Bunkering is constantly looking for new talent. With continued growth, a high calibre of team members are required who are not only diligent but have the right attitude and strong desire to excel," the bunker firm said.
Commenting on the internship program,
Christoffer Berg Lassen [pictured], managing director and CEO, said: "The future growth of our company depends on our people and we believe in recruiting premium candidates who wish to have a long-term career with Glander International Bunkering. Anders, Ditlev and Martin not only showed their ability to be successful they revealed that they are true team players who work with great results.
