Dan-Bunkering and Chemoil going to court

07 Oct 2013 17:13 GMT

Bunker firms in trial over fuel deliveries made in Panama in 2008.

A/S Dan-Bunkering Ltd. - part of A/S United Shipping & Trading Company (USTC) group - has today confirmed that it is commencing a jury trial in San Francisco in a dispute with bunker supplier, Chemoil Corporation.

In an emailed statement, Danish firm Dan-Bunkering said: "The matter relates to a number of supplies of heavy fuel made by Chemoil in Panama in the spring of 2008 which allegedly caused problems for the supplied vessels."

A/S Dan-Bunkering Ltd. has been a leading player in the bunker industry for more than three decades, arranging bunker supplies; fuels, lubricants, and other related products and services for vessels all over the world. The head office is situated in Middelfart with offices in Copenhagen, Shanghai, Kaliningrad, Singapore, Monaco, Houston, Beijing, and Dubai.

Chemoil is one of the largest independent physical suppliers of marine fuels in the world. It has physical operations in Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Singapore, Panama and the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region. Global commodities trader Glencore International plc acquired a 50.8 percent majority stake Chemoil in December 2009. This was later increased to 89.04 percent in 2012.
