Bunkering suspended in Gibraltar

Bunkering operations are halted due to adverse weather conditions.

Bunkering operations have been suspended at the port of Gibraltar until further notice due to strong westerly winds.

Yesterday evening, the port was congested with 17 vessels waiting to enter the commercial anchorage to take bunkers ex-barge. This morning, local supplier Macoil International S.A. informed Bunker Index that the figure was around 15 vessels with further congestion expected as a result of the adverse weather conditions and the suspension of bunkering operations.

At the time of writing this article there are 13 vessels currently waiting to enter the commercial anchorage for bunkers and 3 vessels waiting for ship-to-ship transfer operations, local agent Medport Shipping Services Ltd. reports.
